Level difficulty 3 riding time: 7 hrs first day and 5 hrs second day
(day one, Possible to reduce to 5 hours for beginners).
We start our ride from Hacienda La Alegria, towards the south of Machachi. Enter the slopes of Ruminahui upwards to Panzaleo through the sandy hills next to the rock, where the magnificent Cotopaxi presents the most imposing scenery. You will also be surrounded by the Corazon,Ilinizas, Sincholagua mountains, and the different valleys providing a perfect spot to take a break for lunch at 4000 mts.
In the afternoon we continue surrounding the Ruminahui rocks and slopes up to Limpiopungo lake, part of the Cotopaxi valley, late afternoon we arrive to a cozy lodge (Tambopaxi) for dinner, hot shower, spend a warm and resting night (3750mts high). Next day early in the morning you would be able to appreciate the incredible view of the Cotopaxi, one of the highest active volcano in the world just in front of us. We continue the ride on the Cotopaxi valley and Pasochoa old Volcano, which will be our way back to Hacienda La Alegria, crossing Salitre Incas ruins of a fortress, downhill by farms and chagras (local cowboy) Machachi city.
Late afternoon return back to Quito.
General Information:
Saddles: western, Mclelan or calvary, chilenean, and argentinean saddles, with lamb protection.
Horses: a cross breed of thoroughbreds, arabs and criollo stock
The passenger has to sign a “Liability waiver” before we start the ride.
