SharkSky is a new and growing tour operator based in the Galápagos Archipelago of Ecuador in South America.
Why are we different from other agencies? Sharksky was created by a Galápagueño (a local, permanent resident of the islands) and its main office is located on the island of San Cristobal. Our deep roots, here on the islands, make the protection of the Galapagos an everyday objective and reality. Ethical eco-tourism is not just a term, but a way of ensuring a quality future for ourselves and our children.
Why are our tours different? Apart from the traditional naturalist cruises, we offer alternative tours: land based, island hopping, and adventure tours, which include diving, surfing, kayaking, and more! Local people are involved as much as possible in our day-to-day operations as these opportunities provide an alterative to exractive and harmful industries. We seek to work with the unique ecosystem here in Galapagos by promoting activities such as fishing and supporting the replanting of endemic plant species. By basing our operation locally, we hope to put the conservation of the islands back into the hands of the local people, thus ensuring a more sustainable development of the Galapagos Islands. Currently, tourism is one of the largest sources of revenue within the Galapagos, but most of these economic benefits are retained by agencies based on the mainland.
If you’re thinking of visiting the Galapagos, you’re most likely concerned for the protection of our unique environment, so why not travel intelligently? Our tours have a low impact on the environment and use the best available equipment and services. We have years of tourism experience in the Galapagos and maintain stable, working relationships with several national and international foundations and agencies.
However you choose to explore the Galápagos Islands, we can make it happen: mountain biking, hiking, snorkeling, kayaking, and many other ways to get to know the archipelago. Please check out our products, if you don’t find what you’re looking for, just ask us about it! We can customize your tour while keeping the price affordable since we operate directly (no middle man). Visiting the Galapagos is an once-in-a-lifetime trip, and we’ll help make it memorable.
